USING WEBEX MEETINGS

We are aware that virtual meeting platforms take some getting used to, especially if you haven't had much exposure to them in the past. 

To make this process a lot easier for you, we have created the following instructions on how to make the most out of Cisco Webex Meetings while you're using the app. 

SECTIONS OF THE PAGE

When you have been added to a Webex meeting, you should see a screen similar to the one below. 

You will notice that there are four main sections of the page.

  1. The file menu at the top, left-hand side of the screen,

  2. The video window, which in the image below says 'Waiting for others to join', but will display all participant's videos in a usual meeting. 

  3. The participants and chat panel down the right-hand side of the screen. 

  4. The action icons that run along the bottom of the video window. 

THE COLOURED ICONS

Along the bottom of the video window are a set of different coloured icons. These icons are the tools you will use most frequently while using Cisco Webex Meetings. (Note that some of these icons will not appear if you are using the browser meeting platform. This is why we recommend all users download the Cisco Webex Meetings desktop app. 

From left to right, the icons are:

  • Mute - If the button is red, then your microphone has been muted. If it is grey, then other users can hear you.

  • Camera - Again, if the button is red then your camera is off. 

  • Share - You can click this icon if you need to share any documents or even your screen with the other users. This will most often be used by the meeting host. 

  • Record - You may choose to record the entire session if you want to. When you are recording, a small window will pop up to tell you how long you have been recording.

  • Close Participants - This button allows you to hide the participants panel from the right side of the screen.

  • Chat - This button will likely be grey when you first join the meeting. If you click on the icon, it will turn blue and you will see a chat section pop up on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. 

    • In this chat section, there is a drop-down menu where you can choose which meeting participants will receive your message. ​

    • To send your messages, click the section under the drop-down that says 'Enter chat message here' and start typing. 

  • More Options - This gives you the opportunity to adjust your speaker, microphone, and camera settings ​among other things. 

  • End Meeting - Allows you to leave the meeting. 

LEAVING A MEETING

To leave the meeting, click on the red 'X' icon at the bottom of the video window. 

A pop-up will appear like the one below asking you to confirm if you want to end the meeting. Simply click 'End Meeting' and the meeting window will close.
